The Last Dance: Episode 6

As we step into the next part of "The Last Dance", we begin to see the pressures that Michael faces as being one of the greatest superstars on the planet. During episode 6, the constant media appearances begin to take a toll on his mentality. They would ask him about his game and how others are playing. Their goal was clear. They wanted to know everything about Michael, to the point to see if he would crumble. Some say it is their job, but I call it somewhat of harassment. Especially when rumors go around and he has to watch what he says for it'll backfire on himself, his teammates, friends, and family.

Maybe that was the issue all along to Michael's escape in the gambling world. Outside of playing basketball, he loved to compete and play against people in simpler games. The activities would include cards or golf. His favorite things to do. As a result of enjoying these competitive atmospheres, the media utilized this against Michael like fireworks on the fourth of July. Every explosion of comments reached each and every reporter. News spread fast. The world was now starting to see Michael with a serious gambling problem. However, Michael defended himself and stated that he didn't have a problem with gambling. But, he did admit he has a competition problem. Whether big or small of any type of activity, Michael would want to win every single time. There is nothing wrong with being competitive, as long as everyone is enjoying themselves. I think that's what makes things more interesting.

The main concern of the public is that the "risky" life that Michael lived, outside of sports, would affect how he would play basketball. Little did they know, as Michael stated, he confirmed that he is happy and driven no matter what. I truly believe his gambling helps him keep his mind off the crazy media and pressure the world puts on him. In the end, he is a person just like anyone else. At some point, you do get tired of the basketball image and want to invest in other forms of happiness. Playing games of cards or golf was a way he could express freedom away from the public eye. But, the one thing people should never overlook is this guy's will to win. It is unmatched.
